Zoom in with your mouse and install this Windows upgrade

Q. My eyesight is not what it used to be. Is there a way to make the webpages and my email a little bigger to make it easier to read?

A. Most apps let you selectively zoom in and out, making what you see on your screen bigger and smaller. The options for this are usually found in the View menu.

But there is a faster and more convenient method which uses the scroll wheel on your mouse.

Most of us know that we can use the scroll wheel to move items up and down, but there is also the option of using the scroll wheel to zoom.

If you hold down the Ctrl key while using the scroll wheel, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

It works when you browse the web, read your email, or even use apps like Word and Excel.

For me, I don’t always want everything on my screen maximized all the time, and this little trick allows me to easily switch views quickly to make things more readable. And it allows me to go back to what it was before I zoomed in.

Q. Is Windows 10 Cumulative Update 21H2 safe to install?

A. Update 21H2, also known as Windows 10 November 2021 update, is safe to install. And I recommend it because it’s almost always a good idea to keep a computer’s operating system as up to date as possible.

Feature updates tend to be more involved than general security updates, so they can be a little intimidating. But overall the process tends to go smoothly, unless you have some underlying system issues that need to be addressed.

The 21H2 update is a so-called feature update, which Microsoft releases every year to add new features and stability to the Windows operating system.

While not as crucial as security updates, I recommend installing them as and when they are released. This will help with future updates as they are released.

Plus, by keeping your Windows 10 as up to date as possible, the transition to Windows 11 can be a little less disruptive if and when you decide to update a computer to the new operating system. This is because some of the functionality of the new system can be previewed in updates to the old system.
